Counseling
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” 2 Timothy 3:16
hope and help is on the way
Whatever your need, God has answers to all of life’s problems. God’s Word is sufficient to provide us with direction that is trustworthy and reliable. As we submit to His Word and seek to honor Him with our lives, He promises to supply us with the much-needed hope and help we’re all looking for in our time of need.
What we can help with
At FBC, our counselors are equipped to help counselees deal with a wide variety of needs:
Marriage Issues
Parenting Issues
Addictions
Handling emotions (anger, worry, depression, grief, etc.)
individual and marital counseling
If seeking marriage counseling, BOTH husband and wife must submit an application separately.
What you can expect
Sessions
Our counselors typically meet with their counselees each week. Sessions usually last for a duration of 1 to 1.5 hours.
Goal
Your counselor will help you try to see your situation from God’s perspective and encourage you to think and live in a way that is honoring to Jesus Christ.
Homework
While we may receive some encouragement in sharing our burdens with a good listener, it’s not enough to solve our problems. Each week your counselor will assign homework that will help grow your hope, provide real solutions to real problems, and bring about lasting change.
Time
Developing new habits and new attitudes typically takes some time to form. In light of this, our counselees are expected to commit to a period of 12 – 15 weeks of counseling.
Cost
Because most of our counselors volunteer their time, we are able to provide counseling free of charge. However, out of consideration for our counselors, we require a one-time deposit of $25 which is forfeited for last-minute cancellations. Any counselee that graduates from counseling or chooses to terminate counseling without a cancellation will have their deposit refunded.
