Because of disease, poverty and hunger, children around the world are suffering. They face unimaginable living conditions, alone and without hope of a better future. Many of them will die before reaching adulthood.

One of the most devastating challenges for suffering children is the impact of HIV/AIDS, especiall in sub-Saharan Africa. 15 million children have been orphaned by AIDS, a number that some expect to increase to 40 million by 2010. every 14 seconds, a child is orphaned by AIDS in Africa.

The numbers are overwhelming, but every one represents a child, lovingly formed by God with unique gifts and divine purpose. These children need a promise-filled future. This is our vision of hope. We want to do our part to change their world.

These children of AIDS are struggling to survive. Consider the devastation of losing not one, but both parents as a young child. These helpless children are left alone with no one to care for them ... no one to feed and clothe them ... no one to protect them. They have no one to care for them but us.

Our vision is to provide a voice of hope to these children devastated by HIV/AIDS. We have decided it's time to get involved, get off the sidelines, and give real help to children in desperate need in a very practical way - building a Village of Hope

We are not just helping a child whose life has been impacted by HIV/AIDS. We are investing in the future - future Christian leaders, pastors, future teachers, nurses and businessmen.
We are building a Village of Hope - set to care for as many as 48 orphaned children in four small, family-like Homes of Hope. The homes will be headed by a widowed caregiver or a young couple committed to Christ and to helping these children. Each 900 sq.ft., three-bedroom home will provide a place of love, care and security for 12 children.
The children who live in our Village of Hope will be bathed in God's love as they grow. They will see His love in action every day as they grow up within their culture.

Our Cost
$100,000. FBC raised $125,000 during our annual "Christmas Gifts to Christ" offering in December, 2007. $100,000 has been sent to Zambia and the remaining $25,000 will be used to help with special needs of the village in years to come.

Our Location
Chongwe, Zambia. This village is led by Chief Bunda Bunda and has a population of approximately 20,000. The village has a good school and clinic that the children of our Village of Hope will use.

Our Partners:
WorldHelp, our western partner, has established a relationship with Every Orphans Hope of Zambia, Africa and has channeled the funds from FBC to them to build the village. WorldHelp remains diligently involved by having a missionary/builder help oversee the building process. FBC is also partnering with a local Baptist church in Chongwe to teach the Village of Hope Children to be disciples of Jesus Christ.

This process is heavily dependant on Zambian Christians which is how FBC desires it so that we can have a relationship/partnership in carrying out the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20)

Our Progress:
The rainy season has recently ended in Zambia and construction on the four homes will be starting soon. As with any construction project delays can occur but we are hopeful that the FBC Village of Hope will be completed later this year.
